Process
Pretty Ink Designs wants to make sure that your individuality gets expressed for sharing the important events in your life and more importantly that it goes smoothly. I use only the finest papers and printers to ensure that your invitations meet the standards of quality that you deserve.
The process for weddings, baby announcements and social stationary is virtually the same with the exception of turnaround time.
Consultation
The creation of your wedding invitation begins with a complimentary consultation either in person or over the phone. It gives you the chance to express your vision and allows you to ask any questions you might have. You are welcome to choose from any of the Signature Collection designs and personalize them with the layout, color, font, and embellishments, etc or I can create a custom design unique just for you.
Any details you can provide during this process, including photos of your dress, flowers, cake, and location are helpful in creating the perfect invitation for your big day. The printing method will also be discussed - letterpress, offset, or thermography. When the meeting is complete, Pretty Ink Designs will have an understanding of the look you desire for your invitation suite, as well as the items you wish to order and how many. Depending on the complexity of your project, I will get back to you within a week with a price quote.
Deposit / Wording
The design process begins, once I have received your signed contract and 50% deposit. {An invoice and payment form for you to submit your deposit will be e-mailed to you.} At this time, you will need to provide the wording for your invitation suite. I will send you a text form to walk you through the process. If you need help with the proper wording etiquette, just let me know. Please make sure that you look this over for the proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation before sending it back to me via e-mail.
Proofs
I will send you a pdf color proof via e-mail within approximately 5 days {two weeks if you selected to go with a custom design} after I have received your deposit and text form. Proofing is a very important step in making sure that everything is perfect. They are used to confirm layout, typestyle, spelling, dates, and punctuation.
Two proofs are allowed during this phase to make any corrections or changes that may occur. After that, a $25 proofing fee will be incurred to each additional proof. Please provide all changes in writing. Pretty Ink Designs will not continue the process until you have signed a proof approval contract. Any misprints to your order will be reprinted at your expense, after this point.
Printing
Once you have made sure that all your i’s are dotted and your t’s are crossed, final payment is due before the printing process can begin. After receiving your final payment, I will send your order to the printer with in 48 hours. No cancellations or refunds will be granted after your order has been placed with the printer.
Envelopes for all occasions can be done earlier, if you would like to get to work addressing them! An additional fee for those receiving return addresses and/or labels will be applied to the final invoice.
Turnaround
Depending on the type of printing process, it will take the printer 2 to 6 weeks to complete your order. Offset and thermography take less time than letterpress. Be sure to plan for this in your time line of when you want to send them out. For weddings, I recommend starting the whole process 3 months prior to your mail date for the Signature Collection and 4 months prior to your mail date for custom. Rush orders can be accommodated for an extra fee.
Baby announcements and social stationary take about a week to print. Letterpress invitations can take 3 to 4 weeks.
When to Mail - Save the dates should generally be mailed out 5 to 7 months prior to the wedding date for weddings with few out of town guests and 7 to 10 months for destination weddings or weddings with lots of out of town guests.
Wedding Invitations should be mailed out 6 to 8 weeks prior to the wedding date or 8 to 10 weeks for destination weddings or weddings with lots of out of town guests.
Assembly
For an additional fee, I would love to assemble your invitations for you. This includes but is not limited to, mounting invitations to pocket folders, tying ribbon, stuffing envelopes, applying address labels, attaching photos, etc. This process can take up to one week.
Cancellations
If for some reason you need to cancel your order before it goes to press, a 30% cancellation fee will be applied to your deposit. Once your order goes to press, there are no cancellations or refunds.
I want to make sure that you are satisfied, so please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to alleviate any stress that may incur during this time.
Pricing
The price lists are available to act as a guideline. Prices may vary based on additional costs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.
Methods of Payment accepted are personal check, visa, and mastercard.
Sales tax will be charged to Kansas and Missouri residents.
Shipping costs are not included in the final printing.
Rush orders can be accommodated for an additional 30% of the total order.
Keep in mind that you only need one invitation per household when figuring the total number that you need.

Shipping
Items will be shipped as soon as your order is received from the printer. All orders are shipped FedEx ground unless otherwise specified. A $5 handling fee will be added to your final balance as well as the cost of shipping. The package will be insured for the full amount. Please make sure someone is available to sign for the package. Pretty Ink Designs is not liable for any damage that may be caused during the shipping process.
If you live in the Kansas City area, I can also arrange for a hand delivery of the final product at no extra charge.
